A test reveals that an older system with an AMD FX-6300 and Radeon R9 290 (4GB) can still run Horizon Zero Dawn surprisingly well on minimal settings, achieving 40-60 FPS.
A few hours ago, on the channel RandomGaminginHD, a new video was released exploring the performance of a minimum PC hardware configuration for comfortable gameplay in Horizon Zero Dawn. The owner of the popular YouTube channel got their hands on an AMD FX-6300, a Radeon R9 290 graphics card with 4GB of VRAM, and 8GB of DDR3 RAM (two 4GB sticks) — exactly the hardware described in the minimum system requirements for the acclaimed Horizon Zero Dawn.
Here's the video of Horizon Zero Dawn being tested on the AMD FX-6300 and Radeon R9 290:

Surprisingly, at 1080p and minimal graphics settings, the game averages 40-60 frames per second — an astounding result! The only exception was the "Clouds" quality setting; setting it to minimum introduced visual artifacts in steam and fog. FXAA anti-aliasing was also enabled in the settings.
Just think, the FX-6300 CPU and Radeon R9 290 GPU are both over six years old!
So, if you're running similar hardware and have been on the fence about trying Horizon Zero Dawn, why not give it a shot? Especially since the visual difference between minimal and maximal graphics settings isn't as dramatic as in many other titles.
