Warhorse Studios: Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3 set for 2027-2028 release

Warhorse Studios isn't following gaming industry trends, instead creating projects with its own distinct style.

With the Kingdom Come: Deliverance series, Warhorse Studios has solidified its reputation as a leader in creating deep, dramatic, and uncompromising historical role-playing games. While the second installment, released last year for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, was certainly more player-friendly than its predecessor (which, by the way, received an update for modern consoles this year), it didn't abandon its historical roots. And the next entry, which Warhorse Studios won't call Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3 (the title will reportedly reflect the new game's essence), will continue this trend, even after the franchise's significant commercial success.

In a recent interview with Shanghai Daily, Warhorse Studios' PR director, Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, shared several new details about the upcoming game and discussed the studio's progress on its Middle-Earth RPG project.

Regarding the next immersive RPG in the series, Stolz-Zwilling confirmed the game is slated for release in the next fiscal year (2027–2028), meaning sometime between April 2027 and March 2028. The studio's core development team is actively working on this project, while a separate internal group handles early research and development for the Middle-Earth RPG.

What's even more interesting is that the commercial success of the second installment hasn't changed Warhorse Studios' design philosophy for the series. The studio "remains committed to its realistic historical RPG approach," Stolz-Zwilling noted, "refusing to easily change key elements of the series to follow market trends, striving to preserve a unique medieval immersive experience."

While this commitment was expected, given Warhorse Studios' past work, it's still reassuring to hear it directly from one of the studio's directors. After all, this unwavering vision is precisely what makes the Kingdom Come series so compelling.
