Xbox Series X launches November 2020. Despite the Halo Infinite delay, thousands of backward-compatible games will be available at launch.
A new Xbox Wire blog post officially confirms Microsoft's new Xbox Series X console will launch this November. However, the post doesn't provide specific dates or even a hint at the next-gen console's price.
Still, Microsoft promises in the blog post that even with Halo Infinite's delay to 2021, the Xbox Series X will have "thousands of playable games from four generations of Xbox" available at launch.
In other words, Xbox Series X's key advantage will once again be its backward compatibility with Xbox One, Xbox 360, and original Xbox games.
It's still unclear how Halo Infinite's 2021 delay will impact Xbox Series X sales. However, considering Microsoft has repeatedly highlighted the platform's rich catalog of other projects, it's evident that the Halo Infinite setback has already significantly disrupted the company's plans.
