Following criticism of its demo and the impact of COVID-19, 343 Industries and Microsoft have delayed Halo Infinite until 2021 to improve game quality.
Frankly, after the recent Halo Infinite gameplay demonstration, Microsoft and 343 Industries faced a torrent of criticism. Some lambasted the developers for outdated graphics, others complained about the barren and empty environments, while still others unanimously noted a lack of new and unique ideas for the Halo series.
Ultimately, considering Microsoft's past online presentation, these criticisms weren't unfounded. The gameplay video indeed conveyed a sense of the project's unfinished state.
It seems 343 Industries, the developer of Halo Infinite, listened to fan feedback. Alongside Microsoft, they've decided to push the game's launch to 2021.

Today, I want to share an important Halo Infinite development update with our community. We've made the difficult decision to move our launch to 2021, giving the team adequate time to deliver a Halo game experience that meets our vision. The decision to delay our release is a result of multiple factors that have contributed to development challenges, including the ongoing impact of COVID-19 that has affected all of us this year. I want to thank our 343 Industries team for their hard work and continued dedication to making a great game and finding solutions to development challenges. We know this decision will disappoint many of you, and we all share that sentiment. The passion and support the community has shown over the years has been incredible and inspiring. We wanted nothing more than to play our game with the community this holiday season. However, this extra time will allow us to complete the critical work needed to launch the most ambitious Halo game yet, at the quality our fans expect. Thank you for your support and understanding.
Originally, Halo Infinite was slated for a late 2020 release, coinciding with the holiday season, across Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
