Just a few hours ago, our colleagues from videocardz.com published tests of an unknown 10nm, 24-core, 48-thread Intel processor built on the Sunny Cove architecture and designed for the Whitley platform.
To begin with, it should be mentioned that we are talking about an engineering sample and the final copies of Ice Lake SP processors are likely to receive higher frequencies and optimizations, and therefore, their performance should also slightly improve.
The maximum frequency of the tested chip also speaks in favor of the fact that we have a fairly early engineering sample in front of us – it is only 2900 MHz

However, the unknown Ice Lake SP chip scored almost 42,000 points in the GeekBench multi-threaded test, which is almost double the equivalent processor from the current Intel Purley platform (Skylake-SP) lineup.
The single-threaded performance is also quite impressive – 4000 points. For comparison, the Intel Purley platform, this indicator ranges from 2500 to 3400 points.
If these results are comparable to those of the final solutions, then Intel server chips will be able to compete with the super-successful EPYC (Milan) processors from AMD.
