Just a few days ago, we reported that the Sony PlayStation 5 won't natively support 1440p resolution and will instead output at 1080p on those monitors. Unsurprisingly, this disappointed 1440p monitor owners, prompting the company to reassure fans: the PS5 could get 1440p support in a future firmware update, but only if there is enough consumer demand.

Simply put, if Sony sees enough user feedback from people hook up 1440p monitors to the PS5, the update will happen. Otherwise, owners of 2K displays will unfortunately have to keep playing in 1080p.

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) SVP Hideaki Nishino shared these thoughts with customers.
