AMD's Rick Bergman confirmed the Ryzen 4000 (Zen 3, Vermeer) launch by late 2020. Expect 15-25% IPC gains on the 7nm+ process.
Yesterday, on the corporate AMD blog, a post by Rick Bergman (AMD's Executive VP) stated that the company will offer its high-performance desktop Ryzen 4000 processors, based on the Zen 3 (Vermeer) architecture, by the end of this year.
This is AMD's second confirmation that it will deliver Zen 3-based solutions by the end of 2020. AMD CEO Lisa Su previously made similar statements.
In his AMD corporate blog post, Rick Bergman said that AMD would continue its "high-performance journey" with Zen 3-based client processors, adding that "we haven't seen the best of them yet."
This claim is quite believable because, according to the latest information, Zen 3 chips will utilize an improved 7nm+ manufacturing process and deliver a 15-25% IPC (instructions per clock) increase.
AMD already has the first fully functional Zen 3 chip samples in its test labs, as AMD CEO Lisa Su recently revealed. According to her, the architecture "looks great."
We can only hope that the COVID-19 pandemic won't affect the release date of the high-performance Ryzen 4000 (Zen 3, Vermeer) processors and that these chips will indeed launch by the end of this year.
