NVIDIA announced a new SDK version of its PhysX software platform, which will be released next year. One of the main features of the fifth version of the physics engine will be a “unified particle simulation environment”.
In addition, NVIDIA implements the FEM (Finite Element Method – Standard Technique for Deformable Body Modeling) simulation technology. This feature of the new release of PhysX 5.0 will allow game developers (and not only them) to create a much more believable, accurate, and realistic model of the deformation of both hard and soft objects.
For example, PhysX 5.0 will have to improve the quality of damage to the bodies of various vehicles.
Also, NVIDIA developers paid special attention to fluid simulation. The new version of the software will be able to use discrete particle simulation for liquid and granular flow.
