Today, Microsoft unexpectedly published on its official website instructions for bypassing the restrictions on installing Windows 11 on incompatible PCs. As a reminder, a compatible processor (Core 8000 / Ryzen 2000) and a TPM 2.0 module are required to successfully run the new OS.

So, in order to install Windows 11 on an old PC, you need to do the following:

Microsoft recommends against installing Windows 11 on a device that does not meet the Windows 11 minimum system requirements. If you choose to install Windows 11 on a device that does not meet these requirements, and you acknowledge and understand the risks, you can create the following registry key values and bypass the check for TPM 2.0 (at least TPM 1.2 is required) and the CPU family and model.

Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\MoSetup

Name: AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU

Type: REG_DWORD

Value: 1

Note: Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.

Microsoft
  1. Open the registry editor;
  2. Go to the HKEY_LOCAL_machine\system\Setup\MoSetup section (If this section does not exist, and most may not have it, create it);
  3. Now inside the key, you need to create a DWORD value called AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU and give it a value of 1.

But be careful! Microsoft representatives note that any change to the OS registry can lead to serious problems and even the need to reinstall the operating system:

However, according to the developer, even such manipulations will not completely bypass the TPM requirements, however, fortunately, they will significantly reduce them up to the 1.2 version, which should be more than enough to successfully install Windows 11 on the vast majority of current machines (even some boards for LGA 775 platform support TPM 1.2).
