The second-generation Ryzen Threadripper chips came out so successful that some enthusiasts, even after the release of even more productive heirs in the face of Ryzen Threadripper 3000 processors, cannot deny themselves experiments with multi-core “oldies” of the two thousandth series.

Even today, a French enthusiast named kikoone31 has distinguished himself with the 24-core, 48-thread AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2970WX chip.

The overclocker came across an incredibly successful sample of a processor with great potential, which kikoone31 was able to fully realize: Thanks to liquid nitrogen, the Frenchman was able to overclock the Threadripper 2970WX to an amazing (for a 24-core CPU) frequency of 5449.4 MHz.

The result of this bench session was the result of 44 seconds 806 milliseconds obtained in the relatively popular benchmark GPUPI for CPU – 1B, which brought kikoone31 first place in the Ryzen Threadripper 2970WX rank, and first place among any processors with 24 cores:

The kikoone31 test setup consisted of the following components:

  • Motherboard – ASUS ROG Zenith Extreme Alpha
  • RAM – Kingstone HyperX Predator KHX4000C19D4/8GX 4 x 8GB with a total volume of 32GB
  • Power supply – MasterWatt Maker 1500 watt
