Intel VP Boyd Phelps shared his company’s plans for the development and release of 11th Gen mobile Core chips, specifically an 8-core processor based on the Willow Cove architecture.
In comparison with the current Intel architecture, the Willow Cove core will have at its disposal a more capacious L2 cache with a volume of 1.25MB (now 512KB), as well as, in fact, twice the size of a third-level cache of 24MB (24MB for eight-core models and 12MB for quad-core).
Nevertheless, the vice president of Intel did not specify whether the eight-core model will have Hyper Threading technology active, which allows it to simultaneously process 16 threads, or if we expect only 8 cores. However, given the thin and economical 10nm process technology, the new powerful integrated Xe graphics and relatively high clock speeds, Intel is unlikely to neglect the opportunity to beat AMD’s top mobile product in terms of performance. So, with a high degree of probability, the 8-core Tiger Lake H chip will receive 16 threads.
According to early leaks, Tiger Lake H chips will have to fit into a 35-45 watt thermal package and hit finished laptops as early as mid-2021.
