At the beginning of April, something historic happened: the GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card officially ceased to be the most popular graphics adapter in the world, ceding the lead to its successor, the GeForce RTX 3060.
Valve has published statistics on the most popular computer hardware on Steam for March, where the RTX 3060 managed to increase its share of presence on gamers’ PCs to 10%.
This event will have a direct impact on the near future of the gaming industry: for the first time, a raytracing video card has become the most popular in a game store of such a scale as Steam. Thus, developers will have to pay more and more attention to the new technology, and as a result, gamers with still current cards (GTX 1080 Ti, etc.), but without ray-tracing support, will have no choice but to switch to a GPU with RT.
