Gamescom 2019 kicked off with a presentation from NVIDIA. The Santa Clara-based company has shared new products from its partners who are supporting their own implementation of ray tracing technology, RTX.

A year later, after NVIDIA introduced real-time ray tracing to games, this revolutionary technology has become widespread in the industry.

Looking at the number of games, famous franchises, and breathtaking visuals at our Gamescom 2019 event, it’s clear that ray tracing is already here and really is a step forward for game development.

In addition, NVIDIA has provided a bunch of screenshots and trailers for every RTX-enabled franchise. Below, you can familiarize yourself with them:

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

A pretty good implementation of ray tracing technology awaits us in CoD. Of course, the new engine at the moment will not be able to reveal its full potential, however, this is a big reserve for the future. After all, even now, at least, we have high-quality diffused shadows.

Watch Dogs: Legion

Metro Exodus DLC

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2

Wolfenstein: Youngblood

Apparently Wolfenstein: Youngblood uses ray tracing only for reflections…

Dying Light 2

Control

Minecraft:

The last game really transforms the most. As strange as it sounds, RTX for Minecraft is an extremely profitable technology.

Surprisingly, there were a lot of projects. NVIDIA did their best. It is highly commendable that the company is virtually single-handedly pushing the new technology out into the world. However, it should be understood that no matter how hard she tries, one in the field is not a warrior. It is necessary that Intel and AMD release their products with support for ray tracing technology too, and only then will it really go to the masses.

And this will not happen soon. AMD intends to introduce an updated RDNA2 with support for ray tracing only next year, and Intel, judging by the interview with Raja Koduri, only a couple of years later.
