More recently, rumors about some Radeon RX 5500 and RX 5300 have been circulating on the net. However, we did not attach much importance to them due to the possible rebranding of the old RX 500 line.

However, the future RX 5500 video cards, apparently, are really new solutions designed to press NVIDIA in the budget segment with its GeForce GTX 1660.

According to the authoritative source Videocardz.com, the Radeon RX 5500 will have two options to choose from: with 4GB or 8GB of GDDR6 video memory. Both options will be limited to a 128-bit bus. And this is a pretty interesting solution. If AMD decided to equip budget video cards with GDDR6 memory, then, most likely, it has fallen in price quite a lot since its release.

Indirectly, this is also hinted at NVIDIA with its upcoming GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER, which will also be released in October (according to rumors, the 29th) and will receive an improvement in the quality of GDDR6 memory.

The AMD Radeon RX 5500 chip will be based on the RDNA architecture and will have 22 CUs at its disposal, which gives us 1408 stream processors. The frequencies of the novelty, according to preliminary information, are 1645 MHz in boost. However, this is only true for the mobile version of the RX 5500M. Desktop solutions will obviously get higher frequencies.

These are tests of the mobile version of the RX 5500M, imagine what the desktop is capable of

The performance of the new item is clearly indicated by the image above. It may also explain NVIDIA’s recent announcement of its GTX 1660 SUPER.

The price tag of the AMD Radeon RX 5500 should not exceed $ 200, which should make it a very attractive purchase for economical gamers.
