The Xiaomi Mi A2 smartphone finally receives its official Android 10 firmware. The update arrived late, contains some bugs, and is rolling out gradually.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 smartphone launched back in 2018 with Android 8.1, which was a relatively current OS version at the time. Nearly two years have passed since then, during which the device received an update to Android 9, almost immediately after its release.
However, Xiaomi Mi A2 owners had to wait quite a while for Android 10. The operating system launched in September 2019, and theoretically, all "Android One" smartphones should have received the update to the latest OS promptly. But for some reason (likely due to their focus on developing their MIUI skin), Xiaomi delayed the Mi A2 update (and, even worse, the Mi A3's).
Fortunately, things recently started moving:
Just a few days ago, we reported that Android 10 kernel source codes for the Mi A2 and Mi A3 smartphones were spotted online, and now Xiaomi has officially released Android 10 for the Xiaomi Mi A2.
⤢ ВІДКРИТИWhile the new Android 10-based firmware is considered stable, it still has some bugs, including interface glitches and missing VoWiFi functionality.
As usual, the update rollout is quite slow, so don't worry if your device hasn't received Android 10 yet. Be patient; the update will reach your smartphone soon.
Alternatively, you can download and install the update manually:
The firmware itself is 1300MB, and you can download it via this link.
Remember: it's recommended to back up your data before installing this update.
Additionally, we can assume that Mi A3 owners won't have to wait much longer for the new OS. Android 10 will likely arrive on their devices either by the end of this month or in early February.
