Wolfenstein: Youngblood won't support ray tracing at launch

Back at Computex, Bethesda Softworks and NVIDIA announced that Wolfenstein: Youngblood would support ray tracing on PC. At the time, they offered no further details on how the technology would be implemented.

Now, just days before launch, we finally know why.

In an interview with GamesBeat, Jerk Gustafsson, executive producer at Swedish developer MachineGames, revealed that ray tracing wouldn't be available when the game launches. NVIDIA engineers are still working on its implementation, he said.

"We're working on this together with NVIDIA, but ray tracing won't be available at launch. NVIDIA engineers are still diligently working on a solution to make the technology look as good as possible for our game. The update date for ray tracing isn't determined yet, but from what we've seen, it's going to be good," Jerk Gustafsson said.

The game's release isn't far off. Wolfenstein: Youngblood launches on July 26 across all current platforms.
