Austrian overclocker TAGG won a couple of gold medals in the ranks of the top dual-core Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 processor and the budget Pentium E2140.
The E2140 chip was cooled with liquid nitrogen and it was overclocked to 4320 MHz (+ 170.00% to the base frequency), which allowed the enthusiast to successfully complete the SuperPi – 32M benchmark with the result of 11 minutes 5 seconds 343 milliseconds and become the first in the rank of the CPU of the same name:
The test setup for the Pentium E2140 chip consisted of the following components:
- Motherboard – ASUS Rampage Extreme;
- RAM – 2 x 2GB DDR3 CORSAIR Dominator GT;
- Power supply – SuperNOVA G2 850W.
And it looked like this:
In the case of the E6860, the same liquid nitrogen was used as a cooling system, and the final frequency was impressive for a 65-nm chip – 5540 MHz (+ 84.67% to the base frequency). This overclocking allowed TAGG to complete the same SuperPi – 32M benchmark with a result of 8 minutes 53 seconds 875 milliseconds and claim first place in the rank of an old dual-core processor:
The test setup for the Core 2 Duo E6850 chip consisted of the following components:
- Motherboard – ASUS P5E3 Premium;
- RAM – 2 x 2GB DDR3 CORSAIR Dominator GT;
- Power supply – SuperNOVA G2 850W.
And it looked like this:
