Overclocker Splave secured a gold medal in the GPUPI - 1B benchmark for the Radeon HD 5870, showcasing impressive performance.
Frankly, the American overclocker's performance is nothing short of incredible. Over the past few weeks, Splave has claimed over twenty first-place finishes in extremely competitive disciplines. In some of these, the leaderboard shifted almost daily due to fierce competition.
Yet, Splave managed to hold his ground for a significant period even in those tough contests. Based on today's result, it seems the American decided to relax a bit and easily snag a few first-place spots in calmer, less contested model categories.
For instance, he secured gold in the GPUPI - 1B benchmark for the ATi Radeon HD 5870 graphics card:
⤢ ВІДКРИТИThe graphics card was cooled using a specialized liquid nitrogen pot (and, of course, LN2 itself) and overclocked to frequencies of 1650/1250 MHz (GPU/GDDR5).
⤢ ВІДКРИТИIt's hard to say who manufactured the graphics card. It could very well have been a reference design, as if my memory serves me right (and let's not forget, Cypress GPUs date back to 2009), very few non-reference HD 5870 cards supported software voltage modification, which often implied issues with hardware voltage modification too.

⤢ ВІДКРИТИFor instance, the GPU-Z screenshot reports AMD/ATi as the 'subvendor,' but this could simply mean the card had a reference BIOS flashed onto it.
⤢ ВІДКРИТИOther components used in the test bench included a Core 2 Duo E8400 running at stock frequencies, a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P motherboard, and 1 GB of Crucial DDR2 RAM.
Currently, Splave holds top spots in both the career rankings and the 2019 league. While his lead over immediate rivals appears significant, no one can guarantee they don't have aces up their sleeves.
Experienced overclockers often hold back several extremely potent results as reserves. This allows them to quickly reclaim lost positions if their records are broken. For this very reason, the American shouldn't get complacent.
