Intel's upcoming flagship Core i9-11900K has become the first processor to break the 1,900-point barrier in the Geekbench single-core benchmark.
Fresh benchmark results for Intel's 8-core, 16-thread Core i9-11900K have surfaced online. In the Geekbench V5 single-core test, the upcoming flagship showed a massive 35% performance boost over its predecessor. Even more impressive, despite having only 16 threads, the i9-11900K matched the multi-threaded performance of Intel's current 10-core, 20-thread Core i9-10900K flagship!
According to the official Geekbench rankings, the Core i9-11900K is the first CPU to break the 1,900-point barrier:
The Core i9-11900K was tested on a Gigabyte Z490 Aorus Master motherboard paired with 32 GB of DDR4 RAM running at 3600 MHz.
Here is how the Core i9-11900K compares to current Intel and AMD processors:
Geekbench V5 benchmark performance | |||
|---|---|---|---|
CPU: | CPU configuration: | Single-core performance: | Multi-core performance: |
Intel Core i9-11900K | 8C/16T @ 5.3 GHz | 1905 | 10994 |
Intel Core i9-11900K | 8C/16T @ 5.3 GHz | 1902 | 10967 |
Intel Core i9-11900K | 8C/16T @ 5.3 GHz | 1894 | 11048 |
Intel Core i7-11700K | 8C/16T @ 4.4 GHz | 1551 | 8849 |
Intel Core i9-10900K | 10C/20T @ 5.3 GHz | 1402 | 10933 |
AMD Ryzen 9 5950X | 16C/32T @ 4.9 GHz | 1682 | 16726 |
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X | 8C/16T @ 4.7 GHz | 1669 | 10427 |
AMD Ryzen 9 5900X | 12C/24T @ 4.8 GHz | 1664 | 14061 |
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X | 6C/12T @ 4.6 GHz | 1606 | 8102 |
Intel Core i7-11370H | 4C/8T @ 4.8 GHz | 1556 | 5177 |
In single-core performance, the Core i9-11900K is about 13% faster than AMD's flagship Ryzen 9 5950X. However, in multi-core workloads, the Red Team's chip remains roughly 53% faster thanks to its 32 threads.
Still, when comparing only 8-core models, the Core i9-11900K beats the Ryzen 7 5800X by 13–14% in single-core and 5–6% in multi-core performance.
This means Intel could soon reclaim the crown for the best gaming CPU. Given the severe shortages and heavily inflated prices of AMD's Ryzen 5000 processors, all the Blue Team needs to do is ensure adequate retail stock.
