Italian overclocker cnzdrn pushed an unlocked 3-core Phenom II X2 560 BE to 6496 MHz using liquid nitrogen.
Italian overclocker cnzdrn is back at it again, exploring the overclocking potential of AM3-compatible processors. This time, the renowned enthusiast took on the dual-core AMD Phenom II X2 560 BE. However, this CPU is only a dual-core on paper. In cnzdrn's case, the Phenom II X2 560 BE boasted three active cores (keep in mind that not all chips can be unlocked). This allowed him to compete in the relatively popular 3-core rankings.
Let's get straight to the record:
Using liquid nitrogen for cooling, cnzdrn managed to push the Phenom II X2 560 BE to a massive 6,496 MHz, representing a whopping 96.85% overclock over stock. Thanks to this high frequency, the enthusiast successfully completed the HWBOT x265 Benchmark - 4k with a score of 1.352 fps:
The unlocked Phenom was paired with a flagship GIGABYTE GA-890FXA-UD7 motherboard and a Corsair Dominator GTX2 memory kit.
