American overclocker Splave has set a new Cinebench R20 world record by pushing the 64-core Ryzen Threadripper 3990X to 5200 MHz.
American overclocker Splave has taken the absolute crown in the Cinebench R20 benchmark. He claimed first place in the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X category, topped the 64-core ranking, and, most importantly, achieved the overall top score among all processors regardless of core count.
The key to this impressive milestone was, as you might have guessed, an overclocked Ryzen Threadripper 3990X. This 64-core, 128-thread monster was pushed to a massive 5200 MHz. While Splave didn't specify his cooling setup, given the thermal paste used, he almost certainly relied on an LN2 pot.
His benchmarking session ended with a final score of 40,891 points:
The enthusiast's test bench featured the following components:
Motherboard: ASRock TRX40 Taichi;
RAM: GSKILL TridentZ F4-3800C14-8GTZN;
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 (GDDR5);
Power supply: 1250W Enermax Maxtytan;
Thermal paste: TG Kryo Extreme.
