Hideo Kojima has appeared on Gamescom Opening Night Live with new trailers, in-game content and some details on his Death Stranding game.

First, let’s take a look at the new trailer for the characters Baby Bridge and Deadman, played by Guillermo del Toro.

In case you haven’t been following the game, Bridge Babies are used to connecting with the world of the dead. According to Kojima, children are not just an “accessory”. You will create a bond with them and as you can see from the gameplay plot below, you will have to take care of them. Sometimes, in order to calm the child, he will have to lull him to sleep, for this it will be necessary to “rocking” the game controller in his hands.

Here’s another trailer for a character named “Mama” performed by Margaret Qually. Mom’s child was somehow born on the other side, in the world of the dead, but she is still tied to him by a magic umbilical cord. So yeah, this game will explore the topic of birth quite deeply…

Finally, a new piece of gameplay in which Norman Reedus’ character Sam pees, calms the child, and meets a cameo from the character played by Jeff Kayley.

Most importantly, however, Kojima provided a few more key details about the actual structure of Death Stranding.

Your goal in the game is to connect the fragmented American cities and people from East to West. Along the way, you will be confronted with various threats, including terrorists and BTs (hacked things), and you will face the Preppers (survivors) living in the world.

Kojima did not fully explain how interacting with an NPC (non-playable character) in the game would work. However, he stated that you will also be communicating with players from the real world, and hinted that you can team up to achieve some goals, such as a bunch of people peeing in the same place to grow a giant mushroom. Yes, this is a real example.

Death Stranding is coming to PS4 on November 8th.
