Electronic Arts has outbid Take-Two Interactive's previous $980 million offer, acquiring veteran game developer Codemasters for a whopping $1.2 billion. This deal significantly expands EA's racing portfolio, bringing DiRT, GRID, Project Cars, and F1 alongside Need for Speed.

As a reminder, Codemasters is a British game developer and publisher famous for its detailed racing simulators. Its current IP portfolio includes Dirt, F1, Grid, OnRush, the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), Project Cars, and Fast & Furious Crossroads.
