Taiwanese overclocker Kovan Yang has smashed the DDR4 RAM overclocking world record, pushing a single stick to an incredible 5902 MHz.
Taiwanese overclocker Kovan Yang has set an absolute world record in memory overclocking.
⤢ ВІДКРИТИThe overclocker achieved this impressive result using a Kingstone DDR4 stick. The CPU-Z database lists its serial number as KHX3466C19D4/8G, clearly indicating a nominal frequency of 3466 MHz.
Both the Core i9 9900K processor and RAM modules were cooled with liquid nitrogen. An interesting detail here is that the CPU cores, judging by the result page and CPU-Z database, were actually downclocked to 805.27 MHz. Hyper-Threading was also disabled, and only two of the 9900K's eight cores remained active during validation.
⤢ ВІДКРИТИThis record also stands out because of the motherboard used. The test bench featured an MSI MPG Z390I GAMING EDGE AC, a Mini-ITX board. It's a rather unusual choice, but it likely reflects its specific memory overclocking capabilities.
⤢ ВІДКРИТИHowever, we can't rule out another possibility: Kovan Yang might simply have a contract with MSI to use their components.
Either way, the result is impressive.
