DDR4 6016 MHz: Toppc breaks new RAM overclocking world record

Taiwanese overclocker Toppc shattered the DDR4 overclocking world record, hitting 6016 MHz with a single G.SKILL Trident Z Royal stick powered by Hynix chips.

The 6 GHz barrier for DDR4 has been officially shattered! A new world record for memory frequency across all types was set today.

Taiwanese overclocker Toppc snatched the crown from previous record holder Kovan Yang, pushing a single G.SKILL Trident Z Royal stick (G.Skill 8192 MB, P/N: F4-4800C19-8GTRSB) to 3008.4 MHz (an effective frequency of 6016 MHz).

To achieve this impressive feat, the Taiwanese enthusiast employed the same motherboard as Kovan Yang: the MSI MPG Z390I GAMING EDGE AC (MS-7C04).

An engineering sample Core i9 9900K CPU was clocked to 816.21 MHz. Like the RAM sticks, it was cooled with liquid nitrogen. Significantly, 6 of its 8 cores and Hyper Threading were disabled.

In the comments for his record, Toppc mentioned that the G.SKILL Trident Z Royal DDR4 stick he used was based on Hynix chips, a revelation that surprised some of his colleagues.
