Squadron 42's beta has been delayed by three months, now expected in the third quarter of 2020, with developers citing a 'staggered development' approach.
Star Citizen, the notoriously ambitious project, has hit another delay. The beta for its single-player component, Squadron 42, was slated for Q2 2020, but today brought news of yet another schedule slip.
You'll now only be able to try out Squadron 42 in Q3 2020, representing a full three-month delay.
Developers are attributing this to their 'Staggered Development' approach.
While one part of the team works on, say, update 3.7, another is actively developing 3.8, and a third is already tackling 3.9.
These development groups operate on 6-month cycles, which they say gives them more time to ensure high project quality and minimize bugs.
While the reasons are clear, it's puzzling why they'd shift development pace when the community is already at its breaking point.
