Sony unveiled new Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart gameplay. This PS5 exclusive will launch with the console, leveraging its SSD for rapid world traversal.
During yesterday's Gamescom Opening Night Live event, Sony showcased an extended gameplay trailer for the PlayStation 5 exclusive PlayStation 5 Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. The previous trailer offered just 2 minutes of Ratchet and Clank's adventures, but this new demonstration stretched to 7 minutes, ultimately giving us over 5 minutes of fresh footage:

As a reminder, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will fully leverage the PlayStation 5's cutting-edge solid-state drive. And it seems the new footage from Gamescom offers a clearer understanding of the gameplay we can truly expect.
The game world will be filled with various "rifts" that players can "tether" themselves to, allowing for rapid traversal across different parts of a level. Additionally, purple portals will spontaneously appear in game locations, which, with a high degree of probability, the main character won't be able to control (perhaps only after the midway point or towards the end of the game).
A specific release date for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart hasn't been announced yet, which isn't surprising, as Sony has already confirmed the project will launch simultaneously with the PlayStation 5, whose own release date also remains a mystery.
