AMD has launched its Ryzen 3000XT (Matisse Refresh) CPUs with a minor boost in max clock speeds. However, base clocks remain unchanged, and these new chips don't include a stock cooler.
Today, AMD officially unveiled its refreshed Ryzen 3000XT processor lineup, codenamed Matisse Refresh. What's most interesting is that AMD is now offering more performant CPUs for essentially the same price. With the launch of the Ryzen 3000XT processors, the older Ryzen 3000X chips are seeing a slight price drop, with the newcomers taking their place in the market.

⤢ ВІДКРИТИProcessor | Cores / Threads | Base Clock | Max Boost Clock | L2 Cache, KB | L3 Cache, MB | TDP, W | MSRP |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Ryzen 9 3950X | 16 / 32 | 3500 | 4700 | 16 x 512 | 64 | 105 | $749 |
Ryzen 9 3900XT | 12 / 24 | 3800 | 4700 | 12 x 512 | 64 | 105 | $499 |
Ryzen 9 3900X | 12 / 24 | 3800 | 4600 | 12 x 512 | 64 | 105 | $449 |
Ryzen 7 3800XT | 8 / 16 | 3900 | 4700 | 8 x 512 | 32 | 105 | $399 |
Ryzen 7 3800X | 8 / 16 | 3900 | 4500 | 8 x 512 | 32 | 105 | $359 |
Ryzen 7 3700X | 8 / 16 | 3600 | 4400 | 8 x 512 | 32 | 65 | $329 |
Ryzen 5 3600XT | 6 / 12 | 3800 | 4500 | 6 x 512 | 32 | 95 | $249 |
Ryzen 5 3600X | 6 / 12 | 3800 | 4400 | 6 x 512 | 32 | 95 | $224 |
Ryzen 5 3600 | 6 / 12 | 3600 | 4200 | 6 x 512 | 32 | 65 | $199 |
Ryzen 3 3300X | 4 / 8 | 3800 | 4300 | 4 x 512 | 16 | 65 | $120 |
Ryzen 3 3100 | 4 / 8 | 3600 | 3900 | 4 x 512 | 16 | 65 | $99 |
Ultimately, the only processor to see a significant frequency boost is the not-particularly-popular Ryzen 7 3800XT chip. Meanwhile, the more affordable Ryzen 5 3600XT barely edges out its younger sibling, the Ryzen 5 3600X, by a mere 100MHz!
Currently, it's hard to say whether these CPUs were truly necessary for the current market. But it's clear that definitive conclusions can only be drawn after testing and overclocking the Matisse Refresh processors.
By the way, all new processors lack a bundled cooler, and AMD itself recommends using tower heatsinks or liquid cooling systems with Matisse Refresh chips. Perhaps the 100-200MHz frequency increase was enough for AMD to justify selling these new CPUs without an included cooler...
