NVIDIA is reportedly preparing a new GeForce RTX graphics card based on the TU102 GPU, possibly a TITAN RTX SUPER or an RTX 2080 Ti SUPER with 22GB of GDDR6. This could be NVIDIA's answer to upcoming AMD products.
On August 14, the latest beta version of AIDA64 Extreme (V6.00.5151) added support for an unknown NVIDIA TU102-based graphics card. The program's database lists a card named NVIDIA GeForce RTX T10-8. The 'RTX' prefix confirms this card is intended for gaming, not professional use.
⤢ ВІДКРИТИNVIDIA currently offers several TU102-based products: the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti and TITAN RTX. This suggests the new card will likely be either a TITAN RTX SUPER or a GeForce RTX 2080 Ti SUPER.
While it's wise to be cautious with predictions, considering the Radeon VII packs 16GB of VRAM, NVIDIA might be preparing an RTX 2080 Ti with 22GB of GDDR6.
This move would allow the Santa Clara-based company to maintain the TITAN RTX's lead in both performance and memory capacity. The rumored GeForce RTX 2080 Ti SUPER would then offer a powerful GPU and more VRAM than the Radeon VII.
The other possibility is, of course, a TITAN RTX SUPER. Right now, there's little point in releasing one, but it's worth remembering that AMD is developing a so-called 'NVIDIA killer' based on a large Navi architecture die. This means NVIDIA needs to start thinking about how to counter AMD's new products right now.
However, this scenario seems unlikely given AMD's recent struggles in the premium segment. Releasing an updated TITAN RTX SUPER could prove entirely unnecessary.
We'll likely learn more details closer to mid-to-late autumn.
