Epic Games acquires Quixel. Over 10,000 Megascans library assets will be free for Unreal Engine, making the technology more accessible.
Today, Epic Games, the developer behind the Unreal Engine, announced its acquisition of assets from holding company Quixel.
Quixel's photogrammetry-created textures and models are used by developers globally for films and games. The acquisition follows Quixel's short film demonstration at an Epic Games event during GDC.
Epic Games' acquisition of Quixel should have a significantly positive impact on both indie developers and major market players alike.

However, if you do decide to spend your hard-earned cash, additional Megascans library content awaits.
Bridge 2020 and Mixer 2020 are set to release later this year.
