Leaks suggest NVIDIA's Ampere GA100 chip will pack 8192 CUDA cores, 48 GB of HBM2e memory, and 2048 tensor cores, likely targeting the NVIDIA TESLA series.
NVIDIA GTC 2020 is just around the corner. Even though the conference was moved to an online-only format due to the growing coronavirus pandemic threat, leaks continue to emerge.
For example, specifications for NVIDIA's Ampere GA100 GPU surfaced today. Rumors from Chinese forums suggest the chip will operate at frequencies up to 2200 MHz, pack 8192 CUDA cores, and come equipped with 48 GB of HBM2e memory.
Additionally, strong rumors indicate the new GPU will boast a hefty 2048 tensor cores (the current top-tier GV100 chip only has 640 tensor cores).
As we've previously reported, this is most likely a member of the NVIDIA TESLA lineup. It's highly improbable that Jensen Huang's company would use rare and quite expensive HBM2e video memory for gaming graphics cards.
