NVIDIA delays GeForce RTX 3070 launch to late October

NVIDIA has just announced it is delaying the launch of its mid-range GeForce RTX 3070 graphics card to October 29. The company had previously planned to release the card on October 15.

The delay is likely due to either low launch stock or, more realistically given recent drama, issues with cheap PCB components, specifically those capacitors on the back of the board. There is another plausible theory: the new date puts the GeForce RTX 3070 launch just a day after AMD unveils its Radeon RX 6000 series. NVIDIA might be looking to tweak the RTX 3070's GPU or memory clocks to better compete with AMD's surprisingly strong showing.

For now, though, this is pure speculation, and we don't know the real story.
