New RPCS3 emulator version improves performance in Red Dead Redemption, GoW 3, MGS4, and Skate 2-3

Surprisingly, after a productive summer and a somewhat quieter autumn, the PlayStation 3 emulator developers have been silent, not releasing any performance update videos for three months. While there was a short clip discussing fixes for Uncharted 2-3 and The Last of Us, it didn't focus on emulator optimization.

Fortunately, the enthusiasts today uploaded a video to their YouTube channel, sharing the advancements of the new RPCS3 version.

According to the description, this latest release boasts significant performance gains in titles like Red Dead Redemption, God of War 3, Skate 2-3, Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank Future, Metal Gear Solid 4, and WipEout. Notably, WipEout, which previously ran extremely poorly, is now relatively comfortable to play with the new emulator version.

The latest version of the emulator can be downloaded from the project's official website.

Gameplay recordings were made on the following configurations:

• Skate 2-3 (4k), Uncharted (4k), Ratchet & Clank Future on AMD Ryzen 7 1700@3900MHz

• Red Dead Redemption (1440p), Yakuza 5 (4k) on Intel Core i7 8700k@4700MHz

• God of War 3 (720p) on Intel Core i7 8700K@5000MHz

• WipEout (4k) on a stock AMD Ryzen 7 2700X

• Metal Gear Solid 4 (4k) on Core i9-9900K@5000MHz
