Intel Core i9-9900KS: launching in October with 5GHz on all 8 cores

Intel is about to release a new flagship processor for its mainstream LGA1151 platform.

Physically, the Core i9-9900KS won't differ from the existing i9-9900K, retaining the same 8 cores, 16 threads, and 16MB of L3 cache.

However, the new chip's frequencies will see a substantial jump. While the i9-9900K only managed 4.7GHz across all cores, the i9-9900KS will boast a coveted 5GHz at maximum boost.

That's a solid performance boost within the same 95-watt thermal envelope (though actual TDP values will likely be much higher). Given the competition's struggles with high frequencies, this processor looks like a formidable contender.
