The unofficial Red Dead Redemption PC remaster has been permanently halted. Modder DamnedDev confirmed the shutdown came after demands from Take-Two.
The Red Dead Redemption PC Unofficial Remaster project aimed to enhance the game's visuals on RPCS3 and Xenia emulators. It was nowhere near release, and now it never will be, as development has been permanently halted.
Modder DamnedDev confirmed that the remaster's development was shut down after Take-Two representatives contacted him and demanded the entire project cease.
The project's goal was to remaster and optimize RDR for better performance and visuals on Xenia/RPCS3 emulators, specifically on x64 PC platforms and console-level hardware, while maintaining software compatibility with systems like the Sony PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Essentially, this project was just a graphics enhancement pack for the game, not a standalone reboot or full remaster. That makes Take-Two's position somewhat puzzling.
