EVGA has rolled out a new BIOS update for the GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra, boosting its TDP limit to a massive 450W for extreme overclocking.
NVIDIA and EVGA have always enjoyed a close, even warm relationship, with their partnership spanning decades. Since EVGA is an exclusive partner—meaning they only build graphics cards for the "green giant"—NVIDIA often lets them develop highly unusual and sometimes downright crazy custom GeForce cards.
⤢ ВІДКРИТИFor instance, yesterday EVGA released a new BIOS for its flagship GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra. The update boosts the power limit to a massive 450W. This BIOS is tailored for overclockers and enthusiasts looking to squeeze every last megahertz out of their card and push it to the absolute limit.
By popular demand, here is a new BETA BIOS that increases the maximum TDP of our card. This BIOS is intended solely for extreme overclocking and includes no other changes. Please note the following requirements and details before flashing your GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra: this update increases power consumption during overclocking, so we highly recommend having adequate cooling and a sufficient power supply (at least 850W Gold). Additionally, EVGA does not guarantee higher performance or better overclocking with this BIOS update!EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA – BIOS 1 (Normal) | BIOS 2 (New, with increased TDP limit)
Now, with this unlocked BIOS, the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra should easily dominate overclocking leaderboards. However, average users won't see much of a difference. Unlocking the TDP requires a cooling upgrade, a step most gamers simply won't take.
