Destiny 2's Season of the Splicer launches May 11, bringing transmog, the return of the Vault of Glass raid, new missions, and weapons.
Destiny 2's Season 14 kicks off next Tuesday, coinciding with a scheduled server restart. This upcoming interim update, dubbed 'Season of the Splicer,' brings with it several types of unique gear, armor transmogrification, and reintroduces the original Destiny's 'Vault of Glass' raid. As is tradition, it also introduces another battle pass with over 100 levels and a wealth of valuable rewards.
But let's start from the beginning, with the premise:
The Vex have plunged the Last City into an endless night, and peaceful life under the Traveler's watchful eye is once again in peril. Here, in the dim moonlight, Ikora names someone who knows how to free the City from this gloom. But will he agree to become our ally?
Mithrax, Kell of the House of Light, leads a small group of Eliksni who seek the Traveler. He is one of the Sacred Splicers, and he knows how to counter the Vex technology that has engulfed the Last City. The Eliksni and the Guardians are bound by the Light... but will that be enough?
It seems players will need to meet with the Fallen Splicer named Mithrax and journey with him to the Traveler to save humanity's last bastion. While fairly trivial, it's a typical scenario for a filler story arc.
But that's not what most of the Destiny 2 audience cares about. The vast majority of players in this MMO shooter are concerned about whether the studio's plans for the highly anticipated transmogrification have shifted. And spoiler alert: nothing has changed (which is both good and bad).
Travel to the stars and expand your collection, then return to the Last City to customize your appearance. Every Guardian has their own path, and every Guardian's armor should be unique.
Seasonal activities will include two main tasks:
⤢ ВІДКРИТИ«Override» - Fireteams of six Guardians will use Splicer tech to breach the Vex network. Uncover Vex secrets, acquire their codes, and destroy the enemy using their own weapons.
«Expunge» - Each week, Guardians will discover new vulnerabilities in the Vex network and use Splicer Keys to infiltrate it and dismantle it from within.
The 'Vault of Glass' raid from the first game also returns:
⤢ ВІДКРИТИDeep within the Vault of Glass on Venus lurks Atheon, the Conflux of Time. No one knows for sure what this Vex is capable of. Guardians must infiltrate the Vault and navigate spatio-temporal rifts to reach Atheon and destroy him before he becomes a threat to the entire solar system.
⤢ ВІДКРИТИArmor transmogrification arrives on May 11th, and it appears it will be heavily tied to in-game purchases. You'll undoubtedly be able to create a few 'custom' sets for free. However, if you're not planning to spend your hard-earned cash in the game, that's where it ends.
In addition, Bungie has prepared another expansion of the game's arsenal. Players can expect four new weapons, plus around thirty updated items (weapons with a new Light Cap).
⤢ ВІДКРИТИBungie will also add two new Exotic items to the game: the 'Cryosthesia 77K' pistol and Splicer Gauntlets:
⤢ ВІДКРИТИThe Exotic pistol will be available at rank one of the Season Pass, provided you've purchased it. If you're a free-to-play Destiny 2 user, the 'Cryosthesia 77K' will be available to you at rank 30 of the Season Pass.
Initial rewards for the new Season Pass:
