Hideo Kojima confirms Death Stranding has recouped its development costs, deeming it a success. He's already started work on a new project, with the PC version of Death Stranding launching on July 14.
Kojima-san shared this information with the Japanese site Livedoor. Hideo discussed numerous topics with journalists, naturally touching on his latest title, Death Stranding:
The game has recouped its development costs and turned a profit, so I think Death Stranding has done quite well and can be called a successful project. Plus, we're releasing a PC version of Death Stranding, which will better prepare us financially for our next project.
The Japanese interviewer also asked Kojima about rumors of Kojima Productions trying to acquire the rights to the Metal Gear Solid series from Konami, but the game designer's answer was a firm 'no':
Oh, that's completely false. I haven't heard anything about it, at least.
Death Stranding launches on PC this July 14. Compared to the console version, the PC port will feature high frame rate support and ultra-wide display compatibility.
