AMD has launched the Radeon RX 5500 XT (4GB/8GB GDDR6). Featuring 1408 stream processors and 5.19 TFLOPs, it's set to compete with the GTX 1650 SUPER, with prices starting at $169.
After a month of rumors, guesses, and speculation, we can finally confirm the specifications and pricing for AMD's new budget-friendly Radeon RX 5500 XT graphics card.
Ultimately, earlier leaks suggesting two versions of the card – with and without the XT suffix – turned out to be false. Only the Radeon RX 5500 XT has been released, though it comes in two variants: 4GB and 8GB GDDR6.
⤢ ВІДКРИТИThe AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT graphics card features 1408 stream processors, 88 texture units, and 32 ROPs. Its GPU runs at a base clock of 1670 MHz, a game clock of 1717 MHz, and a boost clock of up to 1845 MHz. The card delivers up to 5.19 TFLOPs of computational power while consuming 110W.
The Radeon RX 5500 XT comes with either 8GB or 4GB of GDDR6 memory. This memory interfaces with the GPU via a 128-bit bus, providing 224 GB/s of bandwidth.
Our colleagues at TechPowerUp have already put the new card through its paces, even testing it with two different driver versions, and we're incredibly grateful for their thoroughness. Be sure to check out their RX 5500 XT performance benchmarks.
Their testing revealed that the 8GB version of the new card generally outperformed its direct competitor, the recently launched GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER, in most gaming benchmarks. The 4GB version, however, trailed NVIDIA's card by 3%.
It's worth noting that while the 8GB RX 5500 XT is slightly pricier than the GTX 1650 SUPER and closer in cost to the GTX 1660, its performance falls roughly 6% behind NVIDIA's card.
As for pricing, the 4GB RX 5500 XT will retail for $169, while the 8GB version will be $199. However, these are just MSRPs. AMD's board partners have already unveiled custom designs, and their final prices can sometimes significantly exceed the recommended figures.
