Intel has released its new 10th-gen Core Cascade Lake-X processors for LGA 2066. Key advantages include a significantly lower price, DDR4-2933 support, and more PCIe lanes.

Intel's new Core i9-10980XE processor is 2.6% slower than its predecessor, the Core i9-9980XE. Potential culprits include hardware patches, a stricter thermal power budget, or an unoptimized BIOS.

Intel is reportedly cutting prices on its Skylake-X processors, with some models dropping by as much as 50%. This move likely paves the way for the upcoming LGA2066 platform refresh.

Intel will announce Cascade Lake-X processors on October 7. They'll be significantly cheaper, support faster DDR4-2933 MHz memory, and 256 GB RAM. Sales begin in November.

Intel says Cascade Lake-X will deliver 1.74-2.09 times more performance per dollar than Skylake-X. The refreshed LGA2066 platform is set to launch next month.
