
Wargaming has released the WoT enCore RT tech demo with ray tracing. It runs on any DX11 graphics card thanks to Intel Embree and improves shadows.
Roughly six months ago, Wargaming first mentioned upcoming ray tracing support in their proprietary enCore game engine. Today, you can download the tech demo and test out the new visual effects on your PC.
Surprisingly, running the World of Tanks enCore RT Demo only requires a standard DX11-compatible graphics card. In other words, no GeForce RTX hardware needed.
Ray tracing in the enCore engine was implemented using the Intel Embree library (part of OneAPI), making it compatible with all DirectX 11 graphics cards.
This is truly impressive. After all, Raja Koduri recently spoke about similar software-hardware approaches to ray tracing implementation.
Currently, World of Tanks enCore RT uses ray tracing to enhance shadows. Below, you can check out the graphical improvements:
