Swedish studio MachineGames is thrilled about joining Microsoft, hoping the acquisition will help the Wolfenstein developer make even better games in the future.
As you probably know, Swedish developer MachineGames, the studio behind the Wolfenstein reboot, was part of Microsoft's recent acquisition of publisher ZeniMax.
Now that MachineGames and Bethesda are officially under the Xbox banner, MachineGames gameplay director Fredrik Ljungdahl seems thrilled about the move.
Games, games, and more games! I think joining Microsoft will help us make even better games in the future. They have so many experienced people, great developers, plus incredibly cool technology and hardware.
Other MachineGames developers also chimed in on next-gen hardware. CTO Jim Kjellin and production director John Jennings singled out the new Xbox's ultra-fast SSD as its standout feature.
MachineGames has been working on Wolfenstein 3 for over two years now. While the original schedule slated the game for release next year, pandemic-related delays might push that back.
