A Japan-South Korea trade war threatens a hike in RAM and SSD prices. Consider buying now, as a similar situation has happened before with grim outcomes!
For the past few months, there has been talk only about the confrontation between the US and China. However, it seems trouble might come from an unexpected direction.
⤢ ВІДКРИТИA new trade conflict is brewing in Northeast Asia, which could significantly impact the cost of RAM.
Current relations between Japan and South Korea sharply deteriorated when a South Korean court ruled that the Japanese steel company Nippon Steele, which forcibly used Korean labor during World War II, owed each survivor $89,000 in compensation.
The Japanese responded that reparations payments were completed in accordance with the 1965 agreement, which restored peaceful diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Earlier this year, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe had already threatened that the annulment of one of the important clauses of the agreement would lead to retaliatory actions — economic sanctions against South Korea.
Unfortunately, this is what happened: Japan significantly restricted the export of several crucial chemical substances used in the production of processors and semiconductors for RAM, of which South Korea is the primary buyer.
As for finished products, DRAM (RAM) and NAND (solid-state drives) memory will be subject to price fluctuations in the coming months.
It's quite possible that one should consider purchasing the necessary volume, as a similar situation has already occurred, and we all remember how it ended...
