Overclocker Splave set two new records in the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X category, pushing the 8-core chip past 6 GHz.
It looks like Splave is getting pretty serious about benchmarking AMD's new Ryzen 5000 (Zen 3) processors. Just a few days ago, we wrote about the American's winning streak in the rankings for the 12-core 5950X and 6-core 5600X, and today the enthusiast made his mark by overclocking and testing the 8-core Ryzen 7 5800X.
During benchmarking, the CPU clock speed ranged from 5899 to 6050 MHz (depending on the test), allowing Splave to set two records for this processor model and bag two gold medals in the 8-core rankings:
Benchmark: | Result: | CPU frequency: |
27.774 fps | 5899MHz | |
3529 points | 6050.4MHz |
Aside from the RAM, the test bench used the same components as the Ryzen 9 5950X and Ryzen 6 5600X runs: a liquid nitrogen pot (likely from Kingpin), a high-end ASRock X570 Aqua motherboard, and a powerful Enermax Maxtytan 1250W PSU. As for the memory, the usual G.SKILL F4-3800C14-8GTZN kit (two 8GB sticks) was replaced by a larger F4-4000C16-16GVK kit consisting of two 16GB sticks.
