He's suggesting we can expect 108-megapixel cameras and 10x optical zoom functionality.
These are truly impressive predictions, as the highest-resolution sensor currently available is Sony's 48-megapixel camera. Samsung's 64-megapixel camera is expected to launch soon, however.
⤢ ВІДКРИТИThese predictions also align with statements from a Qualcomm imaging representative, who claimed that 100-megapixel camera phones could also appear in 2020.
108-megapixel cameras will most likely use Pixel Binning technology, just like 48-megapixel sensors.
As for 10x optical zoom, that seems even more incredible, especially given that we're talking about hardware-only solutions, not a combination of hardware and software.
Here's the takeaway: No matter how you slice it, Samsung's 64-megapixel sensor will be the first to hit the market. It's expected to launch either late this year or early 2020. Given this, if a 108-megapixel camera does see the light of day next year, it likely won't arrive until the very end.
