Respawn claims Jedi Fallen Order is very similar to Sekiro. While the developers are FromSoftware fans, the game will likely be less challenging.
Ever since Stig Asmussen joined Respawn Entertainment, it was clear the studio's games were due for a shift. The former creative director of the God of War series was known for more hardcore projects than the likes of Titanfall 2.
⤢ ВІДКРИТИIn an interview with the yet-to-be-released September issue of EDGE magazine, the folks at Respawn twice referenced FromSoftware and its games.
Jason de Heras, the lead combat designer, stated that Jedi Fallen Order is "very similar" to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
"I think it's pretty cool that you can make a similar type of game without a stamina bar. They let you attack, roll, and do it endlessly. That just confirmed to us that we shouldn't restrict player actions. Give them more freedom, and then let the AI give them a slap or a punch in the face. It was nice to find out the game is similar to ours. Very similar."
Game designer Stig Asmussen later admitted he's a huge fan of FromSoftware, specifically the King's Field series.
Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order likely won't be as brutally difficult as a typical FromSoftware title. After all, modern market demands dictate a certain level of accessibility.
Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order launches November 15 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
