The Radeon RX 6700 launch has been delayed. On March 3, AMD will only unveil the higher-end RX 6700 XT, which is scheduled for release on March 18.
AMD announced this week that it will hold a paper launch for the budget Radeon RX 6700 XT on March 3. Some analysts speculated that the red camp would also unveil the standard Radeon RX 6700 alongside its older sibling. However, a worrying new rumor suggests the base RX 6700 might not see the light of day even by the end of March.
We have new information about AMD's March 3 announcements. It looks like only the RX 6700 XT will be announced (and even then, it's just a paper launch). As for the RX 6700, its announcement was indeed on the red team's roadmap for March 15, but it has been postponed for now. This means consumers will only have the RX 6700 XT in the near future, which, by the way, goes on sale on March 18.
So, if these rumors are true, AMD likely can't supply enough Navi 22 chips in time for the RX 6700 XT launch, and the cut-down RX 6700 will be the first to suffer.
Of course, these are just rumors and should be taken with a grain of salt. Still, the recent launch of the GeForce RTX 3060 strongly suggests that a Radeon RX 6700 XT shortage is almost inevitable.
