PlayStation 4 firmware 7.0 beta adds advanced HDR settings

Yesterday, a new beta firmware for PlayStation 4, version 7.0, was released. It was initially believed that the only new feature was an update to chat functionality, but it turns out there's more to it.

Once the stable firmware version rolls out, PlayStation 4 owners with HDR-compatible displays will be able to fine-tune their screen brightness levels.

This is a crucial update, as not all games previously offered the necessary options. This feature will clearly impact streaming apps like Netflix, as well as your entire game library.

If you have access to the PS4 7.0 Beta firmware, this feature is already available for use with HDR displays. Everyone else will just have to wait for the stable revision to drop.
