With China's mining ban in full effect, used GeForce RTX 3060 graphics cards are flooding the local market, selling for as little as ~$270.
It seems the consequences of China's mining ban are gradually impacting the country's used hardware market. Right now, you can snag a used GeForce RTX 3060 for as little as $270 on various marketplaces.
This dire situation for Chinese miners stems from the local authorities' crackdown on Bitcoin. As a reminder, last month, Chinese crypto miners were forced to shut down their farms or relocate from Sichuan. Some miners, for instance, chose the US as a new home for their operations.
But let's get back to graphics card pricing.
⤢ ВІДКРИТИOur colleagues at The Block compiled several very attractive offers in their article. Bulk purchases of GeForce RTX 3060 cards are available for 2200 to 2899 yuan (approximately $336 to $450 USD). According to The Block, some sellers later dropped prices even further to 1760 yuan ($270 USD) after potential buyers hesitated to pick up the 'mined' cards at the initial price.
⤢ ВІДКРИТИSome miners are even trying to sell cards without removing them from their rigs, photographing their farms in operational condition.
We should remind you that buying used graphics cards from mining operations comes with a host of potential issues: from 'dead' fans to completely fried VRAM and defective GPUs. On top of that, these cards often lack any remaining warranty, which only adds to the risks of such a purchase.
So, if you do decide to buy a graphics card from a 'miner,' make sure to check its functionality as thoroughly as possible.
