British overclocker MATT26LFC pushed an Intel Core i7-4790K to an impressive 6100 MHz with liquid nitrogen, securing gold in GEEKBENCH3.
British overclockerMATT26LFC claimed a gold medal in the GEEKBENCH3 - SINGLE CORE discipline, taking first place in the model ranking for the once-popular Intel Core i7-4790K (Devil's Canyon, Haswell, 22nm).
Using liquid nitrogen for cooling, the enthusiast managed to push the i7-4790K processor to an impressive 6100MHz (the second-best result, trailing only France's Mylth with 6105MHz). He then successfully completed the GEEKBENCH3 - SINGLE CORE benchmark with a score of 6223 points:
The record itself, according to the notepad entry in the screenshot above, was set on June 4th and published the following day. This suggests that MATT26LFC likely already holds a higher score, which the overclocker might be saving for a "rainy day," perhaps until his current record is eventually surpassed.
The Briton's test rig consisted of the following components:
Motherboard: ASROCK Z97 OC FORMULA;
RAM: 4GB G.SKILL DDR3;
Graphics card: NVIDIA GEFORCE GT 610;
Power supply: Super Flower Leadex 1600W.
